 A single figure — heading somewhere, coat on, pace purposeful — on a rural road early enough in the day that the light is still low and angled. Czimber painted solitary figures rarely, and when he did it was usually to ask what it looked like when someone was briefly outside the community rather than inside it. This is one of the quieter pieces in the collection, and one of the most companionable: the kind of painting you want to walk through rather than look at.
