A more surreal entry than most of the war-era pieces — distorted architecture, figures rendered slightly out of proportion, a sky that doesn't behave the way skies do in Czimber's other landscapes. He seems to have reached for a different visual language entirely when painting what occupation felt like from the inside, as opposed to what it looked like from the outside. The shift in style is itself part of the message.
