A village scene at rest — not post-conflict rest (though Czimber painted plenty of that) but ordinary-day peace, the kind that comes from nothing extraordinary happening. He paints the buildings and the street and the few figures as if recording a day that will look unremarkable until it isn't anymore, which in the context of mid-century Central Europe is its own form of urgency without announcing itself as one.
