A veil implies something that conceals while also revealing the shape of what it covers — you can see through it, but not clearly. Applied to worlds rather than faces, it describes the condition between: the membrane that separates one reality from another, thin enough that the other side is perceptible but not yet accessible. This piece works with that in-between state, which is philosophically the most interesting moment in portal imagery — not the crossing, but the instant before, when both sides are simultaneously present.
